Founded in 2020, Selwood AM France was created to bring Selwood Credit expertise in derivatives into Tailored Strategies, Solution Funds and Risk Mitigation Strategies.
Selwood Asset Management (France) is an independent asset manager specialised in fixed income alternative investments, regulated by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). We offer tailored solutions to evolving objectives, combining institutional rigour with entrepreneurial agility to deliver sustainable value. We work closely with our London-based affiliate, Selwood LLP (UK), being as well the European hub for their sales coverage.
We are a specialist alternative investment manager focused on fixed income, with a strong emphasis on credit strategies. Our investment team shares a common professional history spanning more than 20 years, during which we have built deep proficiency in trading, investing, and structuring across large and complex portfolios.
The team has extensive experience across the full credit spectrum, combining relative value, hedging, and structured investment approaches. This long-standing collaboration enables disciplined decision-making and efficient portfolio construction, aligned with both return objectives and risk management constraints.
We have designed alternative long-only strategies aimed at outperforming traditional cash credit and benchmark allocations, while targeting a superior risk-reward profile. These strategies are delivered through the selective use of instruments typically associated with the hedge fund universe.
Leveraging our expertise in structured credit and derivatives, we have developed a suite of risk mitigation strategies. These solutions help insurance firms reduce their capital costs under Solvency II and enable our clients to synthetically protect their long-only cash credit allocations.

The Paris-based team is structured around three core functions: Sales & Structuring, Portfolio Management, and Risk Management. Selwood France also benefits from shared transversal functions with Selwood LLP, including Finance, Operations, Marketing and Legal, and works with external consultants for oversight, control.
Selwood was founded by Sofiane Gharred, who has over 25 years of experience in credit derivatives across both the sell-side and the buy-side. Guillaume Merle, President of the French entity, began his collaboration with Selwood in 2015 while working at Investcorp-Tages, where he contributed to the seeding of Selwood’s flagship hedge-fund. In 2020, he joined Selwood to establish the French structure. Mathieu Labelle, Chief Investment Officer, joined Selwood in 2020 after a 20-year career at Crédit Agricole, where he worked on several rates and credit trading desks, including the Structured Credit desk alongside Selwood’s founders.
